Christel House Academy Honored as "School of Distinction"

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Christel House Academy South (CHAS) has been announced as a “School of Distinction” by College For Every Student (CFES), a global leader in helping underserved students become college and career ready. Christel House Academy, located in Indianapolis, Indiana is one of only 33 schools from across the United States and Ireland honored and CHAS is the only Indiana school recognized with the award. 

“The School of Distinction’ award is a testament to the amazing commitment of the students and staff here at Christel House Academy,” says Carey Dahncke, Head of Schools at Christel House Academy. “The judging committee at CFES specifically cited our work in creating high levels of college and career readiness and for raising aspirations among our students.   We’re very proud to receive the recognition.”   

"Christel House has, over the course of its partnership with CFES, fully embedded the core practices into the culture of the school, creating an atmosphere that supports mentoring, leadership and college and career readiness,” said CFES Program Director Andrea McDonald. “We've seen significant growth in the empowerment of students at Christel House Academy,” added McDonald. “In today’s day and age, it’s essential that students develop skills needed for success in and out of the classroom and their getting those skills through the CFES program.”

Established as a public charter school in 2002, Christel House Academy (CHA) today operates four schools in Indianapolis—CHA South, serving at-risk students in grades K-12; CHA West currently serving grades K-4, and two adult high schools, Christel House DORS South and Christel House DORS West.
