Christel House Mexico receives $45,000 grant from UPS Foundation to support nutrition program

Wednesday, July 2, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS – For children in poverty, it is difficult to learn the ABC’s on an empty stomach. The UPS Foundation understands the importance of good nutrition to school-age youngsters and for the second consecutive year has selected Christel House Mexico to be the beneficiary of a $45,000 grant.  The donation will be used to fund the nutrition program for more than 400 students who attend Christel House in Mexico City.

“The UPS Foundation is committed to the communities in Mexico and understands the importance that well-rounded nutrition provides to young children,” said UPS Mexico Human Resources Director Gabriel Obregon. “Our company is honored to provide this grant, which directly contributes to a better future for the youth at Christel House Mexico.”

Christel House Mexico CEO Javier Alarcón Benet expressed his gratitude for the Foundation’s support.

“This generous grant from UPS Foundation fulfills an important component of the Christel House model. Children cannot learn when they are hungry,” Alarcón said. “UPS is helping us to provide these growing youngsters with breakfast, lunch and a healthy snack before they go home. We are extraordinarily grateful for the UPS Foundation’s support.”
