Jamaica breaks ground for high school

Christel House Jamaica celebrated a groundbreaking as plans move forward for construction of a two-story high school on the campus. During her keynote address at the event, Jamaica's Minister of Education and Youth, Hon. Fayvel Williams, remarked that Christel House's dedication to breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering vulnerable children is "nothing short of inspiring."

The Minister said the school is laying a foundation for a brighter future. “Your decision to invest in Jamaica speaks volumes about your belief in our nation’s potential, and your dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of our youth is appreciated. By providing comprehensive support, including education, nutrition, healthcare, and mentorship, Christel House will empower students to break free from the chains of poverty and chart a course towards a better tomorrow.” For Jason Scott, Executive Principal of Christel House Jamaica, the groundbreaking marks a significant milestone in the young history of the school. “It has sparked interest and much joy from the various stakeholder groups. It is a sign of a promise coming to fulfillment, of an institution that will cater to the educational needs of the students served, up to Grade 13. I am happy and proud to be part of this momentous occasion and share in the hopes and aspirations of all who call Christel House Jamaica their own.” Danielle S., a Grade 5 student, welcomed guests and introduced herself as ‘a proud and grateful student.’ Active in track and field, speech, robotics, and the art club, she told the assembly, “I am thankful for the great teachers and staff here who guide me in the right direction.” Danielle concluded with an invitation for the guests to return to the school. “We are excited to see the construction of our new high school get underway and look forward to seeing you at the ribbon cutting and walking through those doors in 2025.”
