Her friends and husband convinced Adegbemisola Adegbite, or Ade, to enroll at Christel House DORS, the adult high school in Indianapolis. “Let me give it a try,” she says smiling. “I’m glad I gave it a try.”
Ade tested well on her DORS entrance exams. “I was very excited as I didn’t have to start all over.” She excelled in her classwork and graduated with her high school diploma last summer. Ade wants to be a registered nurse and she’s now completing prerequisite courses at Ivy Tech in Indianapolis. With support from the Christel House College & Careers program, Ade says the DORS team continues to help her. “When I say helpful, I mean really helpful.” That includes guidance in registering for college classes, getting books, and offering technical support for online learning. Ade has advice to anyone considering DORS. “It’s not too late nor are you too old to set a new goal or dream,” she says. “The sky’s the limit.”
