The first DORS grad to earn a Bachelor's degree

Daniela Pabon felt she had something to prove. Turning 18 and unable to finish senior year at her Indianapolis high school, she looked for an alternative. She discovered Christel House DORS, the adult high school. Daniela not only earned her high school diploma, she kept going. Today, she’s the first DORS graduate to earn a Bachelor’s degree. “I really wanted to do it. I had a lot to prove to myself,” she said. Graduating from DORS in 2015, Daniela earned Global Logistics and OSHA associate certifications from Vincennes University then enrolled at IVY Tech Community College to earn an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. She wasn’t done. Daniela applied to the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). A full-time student at the demanding school, Daniela continued to work full time. It was exhausting. “That was probably the worst time. I would go to work at 7a.m., then to school, then be at the library until they kicked me out!” In December 2019, Daniela proudly graduated with a Bachelor’s degree, majoring in Finance with minors in Economics and Cultural Diversity. Daniela reflects on her accomplishment. “When you want something really bad, you find a way to do it.”
