At an age when many students are focused on their own futures, a high school senior from New Jersey, Sricharan S., is already thinking about how he can help shape the futures of others.

Growing up, Sri learned from his parents about the challenges they faced in India and their search for opportunities that brought them to the United States. Their lesson was simple: never take those opportunities for granted. “Even though I’m born in the U.S., I’ll always have roots in India,” Sri said. Determined to put those lessons into action, Sri searched for a way to support students in India and discovered Christel House India.

During a family trip to Bangalore for a wedding, he visited the school and saw firsthand the resources available to students. Inspired by what he saw, Sri chose to support CH India through his family’s donor-advised fund, knowing that 100% of his donation would support programs and services for students. “I just wanted to give back in whichever way that I could as a student.” His gift will support Atal Nagar students in the College & Careers program.

Now exploring his own college options, Sri is looking ahead to his future while helping open doors for others. His story is a reminder that giving back doesn’t depend on age or circumstance; it begins with recognizing the opportunities we’ve been given and choosing to share them.
