Christel House Indianapolis celebrates 25 years of changing lives

Last modified on October 28, 2026

Hundreds of supporters gathered to mark 25 years of Christel House Indianapolis, celebrating the students, teachers, alumni, and community that have shaped its journey. All four Christel House Indianapolis schools—Academy South, Academy West, Watanabe High School, and Christel House DORS adult high school, were represented.

CEO Emily Masengale emphasized that students were the heart of this milestone, and they brought the celebration to life through performances by the CH Indianapolis Band, student choir, and cheer squad. Eighth grader Miguel C. co-hosted the event as a student emcee alongside TV anchor Rafael Sanchez.

A special moment in the program came when teacher Michelle Trout, who has been part of Christel House Indianapolis for all 25 years, was honored by returning alumni, highlighting the lifelong impact of dedicated teachers. Montaneke Mitchell, a Christel House DORS graduate, delivered closing remarks, reflecting on how Christel House’s adult high school changed her life and guided her toward a successful career.

Those in attendance were also grateful to recognize the event’s sponsors, including: OneAmerica Financial Foundation, Presenting Sponsor; Samerian Foundation, Reception Sponsor; and RCI, Christel Star Legacy Sponsor. Finally, the evening provided an opportunity for the Indianapolis community to once again demonstrate its generous of Christel House. With a goal of raising $25,000 in honor of the school’s anniversary, supporters contributed thousands of dollars beyond that goal, an expression of their commitment to help CH Indianapolis students continue building brighter futures.
