    Students dominate in Coding4MandelaDay

Last modified on August 27, 2025

Christel House South Africa students are proving themselves as tech trailblazers. Grade 5, 6, and 7 learners recently competed in the #Coding4Mandela Tournament, a national initiative led by Tangible Africa in partnership with Nelson Mandela University. The program uses fun, hands-on activities to introduce young learners to the world of coding and computational thinking. In the tournament, teams raced against the clock to guide a virtual vehicle through a series of complex mazes using physical coding tokens and a mobile device. With only one hour to complete as many levels as possible, students had to rely on teamwork, efficiency, and strategy. Three teams will represent CH South Africa at the National Online Coding Tournament, where they will compete against other top learners from schools across the country. The students’ success showcases Christel House’s commitment to preparing learners for the future by equipping them with the critical thinking and digital skills needed to thrive in an increasingly tech-driven world.
