Students from Christel House India embarked on an inspiring filmmaking journey, creating a short film titled “Why Our School is Special” with the guidance and support of The Perse School Cambridge production team. From scripting to deciding on camera angles, the students were fully immersed in the creative process according to Claire Ziwa, Director of Communications at The Perse School. “They were so keen to learn – picking up the camera and lights – they would say ‘action’ with such enthusiasm,” Ziwa shared. “Their energy and approach to life were truly inspiring. We were very moved by the whole experience.”
The collaboration between Christel House India and The Perse School Cambridge goes beyond just filmmaking. The Perse team visiting Christel House India included two teachers and 11 students. They engaged with Christel House in a variety of projects including computer-based tasks and collaborative art projects. The exchange was a rich blend of knowledge-sharing and cultural experiences, highlighting how education can bridge gaps and create meaningful connections across the globe. “We’re learning from each other,” said Hannah Sherry, a teacher at The Perse School.
The connection with Christel House India and The Perse School has spanned nearly 15 years and continues to grow stronger. Nandini Lakshman, Principal of Christel House India, expressed her deep gratitude for the ongoing support from The Perse School. “We are extremely grateful for Perse for all the support they have been giving us over the years,” she said. For Ziwa, she encourages the student-film collaborators to explore video production and continue sharing their stories. “The people were so welcoming – we connected with students and alumni alike. They were so engaging,”
