Making the impossible, possible in South Africa

Last modified on May 28, 2025

When passion, purpose, and storytelling come together, magic happens. The team at Christel House South Africa has created a powerful new video highlighting the power of a Christel House education. At the heart of the video is Mayizole, a Grade 7 learner who dreams of becoming an engineer. With his natural talent in front of the camera and an infectious sense of optimism, Mayizole leads viewers through a story that is both personal and inspiring. It’s an authentic glimpse into the transformative power of a Christel House education, told through the eyes of a student who lives it every day.

June is Youth Month in South Africa and it’s a reminder that the energy and determination of young South Africans like Mayizole are the country’s greatest assets. His story is just one example of the hope, talent, and resilience that Christel House works to nurture across the nation. Our no-fee, nonprofit school in South Africa currently serves 906 students from 29 of Cape Town’s most under-resourced communities, providing a world-class education and holistic support designed to break the cycle of poverty and set our students on a path to lifelong success.

Why Christel House? Because Our Model Works.

We go beyond the classroom. Our students receive:

    • Two nutritious meals and snacks daily
    • Transport to and from school
    • Uniforms and essential school supplies
    • Primary healthcare and psychosocial support
    • Career and university guidance

    The results speak volumes:

    • 99% Matric pass rate
    • 95% of alumni are studying or employed

Our graduates don’t just succeed; they come back to give back. Alumni like Mishka Botha, now a Christel House teacher, and Kyle Daniels, our Music Coach, are living proof of the impact our model delivers.
