Christel House Mexico student earns writing honor

Last modified on August 27, 2026

It all started with a book, a lot of questions, and curiosity. Christel House Mexico student Kevin B. has won first place in the Book Review category for ages 14 to 16 in the Leamos la Ciencia para Todos (“Let’s Read for Science”) competition, organized by Fondo de Cultura Económica. Inspired by the book, “¡Hay un dinosaurio en mi sopa! Una guía rápida sobre evolución biológica” (“There’s a Dinosaur in My Soup! A Quick Guide to Biological Evolution”), Kevin’s award-winning work came from months of reading, research, writing, and revision. The project began when teacher Abraham Román recognized Kevin’s potential in his early drafts. Together with teacher Daniel Mendiola, they supported Kevin throughout the process, helping him investigate, strengthen his arguments, and refine his writing. “Being curious has led me down paths I wouldn’t have ever imagined,” Kevin wrote in his review. Today, that curiosity has led him to first place.

Congratulations to Kevin, and his teachers, for an achievement that reflects talent, discipline, academic rigor, and the power of dedicated teaching and support.
