Christel House Global Ambassador, and six-time Grand Slam tennis champion and two-time Olympic medalist, Rajeev Ram recently visited CH Mexico, his first visit to a Christel House school outside the United States. Rajeev spent the day immersing himself in the school community, visiting a family in their home, touring the campus, sitting in on classroom activities, and sharing lunch with students, faculty, and alumni. Rajeev also treated students to a primer on the fundamentals of tennis. Reflecting on his visit, Rajeev said, “Quite honestly, it’s tough to put into words. You don’t really understand the magic of what happens unless you come and visit. It’s inspirational for me. These kids that have come from difficult circumstances, now trying to become – and going to become – successful professionals. I don’t think it gets much better than that. It’s an honor for me to be here, and I can’t wait to see the rest of the schools.”
While in Mexico, Rajeev was also interviewed by Men’s Health about his remarkable career, his journey to becoming the world’s No. 1 ranked ATP doubles player, and why he believes so deeply in Christel House’s mission to break the cycle of poverty through education. As he shared in the interview, the goal isn’t simply to give students a chance, it’s to help ensure that poverty never limits their potential.
