Four remarkable young women from CH South Africa recently represented the school on a global stage. Current matric (Grade 12) students Christaylior B. and Chelsea P., along with CHSA alumni Amy-Lee A. and Marychan O., showcased their exceptional talent at the prestigious Intercoiffure Mondial Hamburg 25 World Congress, a five-day international hairdressing event held in Hamburg, Germany. It was their first international trip and an unforgettable, life-changing experience. “I am overwhelmed and overjoyed with this opportunity,” said Amy-Lee, who is now pursuing her hairdressing qualification at the College of Cape Town. “With all the amazing support from our mentors and sponsors, the impossible has become possible,” shared Amy-Lee, now pursuing her hairdressing qualification at the College of Cape Town.
The students are all participants in the Christel House South Africa Hairdressing Program, launched in 2016 in partnership with Intercoiffure Mondial’s Education for Life initiative. The program was introduced to the school by Ezra Isaacs of Coiffure Ezra Hair and Beauty Salon, Rolf Losken, and Jean Witte, whose vision was to nurture skilled, confident young professionals from underserved communities. Two years ago, the students first gained recognition at the Queen Charlotte Show in Cape Town, where their talent and professionalism captured the attention of Education for Life representatives. Their dedication led to a rigorous selection process, and ultimately, sponsorships that opened the door to this global opportunity.
Christel House South Africa extends its deepest gratitude to Intercoiffure Mondial, Education for Life, Wella Professionals, Goldwell, Schwarzkopf, the College of Cape Town, and all the mentors and sponsors who made this achievement possible. Their investment has not only provided these students with international exposure and career advancement opportunities but also affirmed Christel House’s mission of transforming lives by empowering young people to pursue their passions and reach their full potential.
