At Christel House India, mothers are becoming changemakers through The Mother’s Circle, a program that builds leadership, confidence, and stronger communities. Launched in 2022 at the Bangalore campus, the initiative was designed “to promote the active participation of mothers in their children’s development while building confidence and leadership among women,” says Beschi Amalarasu, the Senior Manager of the Social Service Department. Today, more than 500 families take part through community-based committees formed across the neighborhoods and underserved communities where Christel House students live. “Each committee consists of 10 to 20 members to ensure effective participation and coordination,” Amalarasu adds.
The impact is inspiring.
Mothers are not only supporting their own children’s education but also uplifting their communities through service and volunteerism. They coordinate school activities, lead awareness campaigns, and manage programs such as the Homework Club, where parents create a safe, supportive space for students to complete assignments after school.
One particularly moving example comes from a small savings initiative organized by The Mothers’ Circle. Through collective savings, a single mother was able to secure a loan to pay her older child’s college fees, highlighting the program’s focus on economic empowerment and self-efficacy.
The success of The Mothers’ Circle in Bangalore has been so significant that the model is now being introduced at CH India–Atal Nagar this academic year. “There is a clear and definite connection established with our parent community, and the level of their participation with school programs and initiatives has improved beyond expectations,” says Amalarasu. “Mothers are experiencing upward economic mobility and self-efficacy through their savings.”
With The Mothers’ Circle, Christel House is not just educating children—it’s empowering families and building stronger, more united communities, one mother at a time.
