With over 25 years of global experience, we’ve learned a lot—and we’re excited to share it with you. This is where we unpack the stories, strategies and insights that drive our mission. Dive in.
In Mexico, as in many countries, poverty remains a deeply rooted challenge – one that continues to affect millions of children. Nearly half of all children grow up in economically vulnerable conditions, and for too many, opportunities to reach their full potential are limited by circumstances beyond their control.
This year, the results from Christel House Mexico remind us what is possible when the whole child is supported. Success depends on more than academic achievement – it requires helping students develop self-belief, set goals, and navigate clear pathways from school to career.
At Christel House, we know the path to success isn’t built on academics alone. Our colleagues in Mexico bring this to life every day, supporting students beyond the classroom – from their physical health and nutrition to socio-emotional learning and parent or caregiver engagement. This whole-child approach ensures that as students set their sights on university and careers, they have the support and guidance to turn those goals into reality.
This year’s graduating class achieved results that exemplify what this holistic approach makes possible. Fourteen students from Christel House Mexico have been accepted to the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), one of the most prestigious universities in the country, representing a 33% acceptance rate – more than three times the national average of 10%. Many others earned places at other leading public universities, including UAM and IPN, and continue their studies toward degrees that will open doors to meaningful careers. Beyond university admissions, securing scholarships is another key milestone. Christel House International’s Chief Talent Officer noted that students earned “100% scholarships at Universidad Iberoamericana and Centro,” marking an outstanding achievement.
Luna Rangel Pedraza, a 2019 graduate, reflects:
“Through Christel House, I was awarded a scholarship that covered my university tuition, an internship, and eventually employment. Each teacher left an enduring mark, inspiring me to pursue my dreams.”
For Rodrigo Olivares, who grew up with limited resources and support, the experience was equally transformative. After graduating from Christel House and earning a psychology degree at UNAM, he founded a mental health initiative to give back to his community.
“Christel House played a pivotal role in my success,” he says. “My brother and I have shown that with hard work and dedication – and the right support -remarkable achievements are possible.”
Preparing students for what lies beyond graduation is always top of mind. We’re committed to helping them determine their next steps and connecting them with partners who value upskilling youth and providing real opportunities to thrive. A recent partnership with Nokia has opened new doors, with seven Christel House Mexico graduates stepping into internships that represent more than jobs – they are pathways built on talent, discipline, and determination.
We’ve long believed that every student has the strength and potential to define their own future. The lesson from Christel House Mexico’s Class of 2025 is a powerful reminder of this truth. These young people exemplify what happens when hard work, dedication, and perseverance meet opportunity, and when wraparound support is paired with unshakable self-belief.
As CEO David Harris said at their recent graduation, this class embodies resilience, creativity, and a deep sense of responsibility – not just for themselves, but for the generations that follow. Their entrepreneurial spirit, generosity, and commitment to shared values like respect, integrity, and independence reveal that true success is built on consistent, intentional steps over time.
At Christel House, we don’t just provide resources – we walk alongside students for the long haul, nurturing their self-efficacy and opening doors. But it’s their own courage and determination that build these triumphant futures. We’re honored to be a vessel for their transformation, knowing that the cycle of poverty breaks only when young people believe in themselves as fiercely as we believe in them.
