Grad mentors students for tech competition

A competition that encourages girls to embrace technology is getting extra support from a 2009 Christel House Mexico (CHMX) graduate. Jesus Eduardo Morales Florencio is mentoring two Christel House teams competing in the Technovation Challenge. The girls must identify a community problem, develop a mobile app solution, and create a business plan to launch the app. Both teams are developing apps to help families create budget goals and manage their money. Jesus believes this challenge is a great way to promote computer science and introduce business principles at Christel House. “Preparing children with technological skills is an important component of breaking the cycle of poverty,” he says. For Jesus, giving back as a mentor is important. “Christel House gave me the opportunity and the skills to have a better future.”
