CHRISTEL HOUSE INDIANAPOLIS ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS

Two Christel House staff members have been recognized with promotions it was announced by Dr. Sarah Weimer, Executive Director, Christel House Indianapolis.

Emily Masengale – Assistant Executive Director

In her new role, Masengale will support the Christel House Indianapolis Executive Director and provide leadership development for principals in the Christel House Indianapolis network. She joined Christel House in 2011 as the Founding Principal of Christel House DORS, the adult high school. As Director of Christel House DORS, Masengale managed three campuses. She has a MEd. in Organization and Leadership from Columbia University, MA in Education Administration from Saint Louis University, and a BA in Secondary Education from Indiana University with a minor in Leadership, Ethics and Social Action.  

Christina Summers-Wooley – Head of Partnerships and Communications

Summers will lead and coordinate communications and marketing, develop partnerships, and oversee recruitment of staff and students for Christel House Indianapolis. She joined Christel House as Student Recruiter in 2015. She previously worked as Operations Manager in the City of Indianapolis’ Office of Education Innovation. Summers-Wooley has a MA in English with a specialization in Theatre from Indiana State University and a B.A. in Theatre from Franklin College.

Established as a public charter school in 2002, Christel House Indianapolis (CHINDY) today operates multiple charter schools in Indianapolis—Christel House Academy South, serving at-risk students in grades K-12; Christel House Academy West currently serving grades K-8, and an adult high school – Christel House DORS, with locations at South, West and at Ivy Tech. As part of an Innovation school partnership with Indianapolis Public Schools, Christel House will assume operations at Manual High School on the southside of Indianapolis in July 2020. With the 2021-22 school year, Christel House Academy South and Christel House DORS South will relocate all classes and operations to the historic Manual campus.

CHINDY provides a holistic human development approach that focuses on building strong character to complement each student’s rigorous academic foundation. Through its College & Careers program, CHINDY continues to support its graduates through post-secondary education and job placement so they become self-sufficient, contributing members of society. Christel House Academy South was Indiana’s first charter school to receive the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform’s “School to Watch” designation. Additional recognition includes the Indiana Achievement and Breakthrough Schools Awards. It has also been named a 2018 National School of Character by Character.org.
