Friday, August 11, 2017

Christel House Academy South of Indianapolis, Indiana has been named a School of Distinction by College For Every Student (“CFES”). This honor recognizes the development and execution of an exemplary plan in the CFES core practices of Mentoring, Leadership Through Service, and Pathways to College and Career.

This is the 2nd consecutive year that Christel House Academy has received this award. In order to be considered for the School of Distinction title, a school must meet a strict set of criteria, including implementing programs for the entire school and involving student families in activities. At Christel House there are 158 free and reduced lunch students in grades 7, 8, and 9 from diverse cultural communities. College Transition Counselor, Laura Tucker, leads Christel House’s CFES program. “Christel House is very proud of the success of our College & Careers program,” says Tucker. “100% of our 2017 graduates received acceptance letters to 4-year universities.”

Christel House students are exceptional in their commitment to developing and maintaining an environment and school-wide culture where academic achievement and empowerment are celebrated. Christel House integrates career guidance into students’ advisory curriculum, which helps them reflect on future goals and develop the essential skills necessary for success. Christel House Academy students demonstrate the power of positive peer pressure in creating a healthy school climate and preparing all students for college and careers.
