Opening doors to the world of books for Christel House Academy West students

Impoverished children rarely have access to books. When resources are limited, families care more about putting food on the table than they do about a trip to the library. That’s why Christel House Academy Board Member Yvonne Shaheen is spearheading a project for a new media center at Christel House Academy West. Books help kids build language skills and inspire them to explore new worlds.

Through a partnership with the Indianapolis Public Library, every student at Christel House Academy West will have a library card. The space is ready. Systems are planned. But the bookshelves are bare, there’s no student furniture, technology systems are needed to give students access to the library’s collection, and a starter collection of books is necessary to begin filling the shelves. That’s where you come in. Your donation will help us get the media center ready.

Plan your gift. Here’s what your dollars could provide…

$20—1 Book
$350—1 Printer
$1,500—Cataloging of books
$3,500—64 Chairs
$13,500—The hardback starter collection (675 books) needed to open the media center

Help open the media center! www.christelhouse.org/donate

Once the media center project is fully funded, additional monies will be used to fund operational expenses for all Christel House children.
