Alex St John runs Marathon de Sables for Christel House SA

Avid runner and one of our longtime friends, Alex St John, ran and completed the grueling Marathon des Sables in the Sahara Desert in April to raise funds for our school. Set in southern Morocco and known as the Sahara Marathon, the race spans a total of 251 km to be completed over six days in some of the toughest running conditions in the world. Alex managed to finish in 80th place out of 902 runners, with a total time of 31 hours, 5 minutes. On top of this exceptional feat, Alex raised a whopping £42k (over R800 000) through his crowdfunding campaign to assist Christel House SA. The funds raised will cover the scholarship costs of 11 students at our school this year, including education materials, tuition, uniform, transport, meals, healthcare, counselling and career guidance.

Alex is a regular volunteer at the school and a passionate supporter of Christel House’s mission. His father, Lord Anthony St John, is a long-standing board member of Christel House Europe, and a member of the House of Lords in the UK . He has also run many races on behalf of Christel House over the years.

Thank you, Alex from the staff and students at Christel House for your incredible support of our students and enabling us to transform so many more lives.
