Ribbon cutting opens Indianapolis campus

With a student-led ribbon cutting ceremony, Christel House Indianapolis officially opened its doors to a new community-serving campus. Christel House at Manual is on the Southside of Indianapolis and now serves nearly 1,400 K-12 and adult high school students.

The new Christel House location is in partnership with Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS). Christel House Academy South (K-8), Christel House Watanabe High School (9-12) (including incoming Christel House Academy West 9th grade students) and Christel House DORS South adult high school moved just blocks north to the Manual High School campus. It was a hectic summer for teachers and staff, who packed and helped relocate classrooms to the new facility. “We are so excited to have four schools on one campus, which gives us the opportunity to collaborate and expand the sports, arts, STEM, and Career and Technical Education (CTE) offerings for all of our students,” said Dr. Sarah Weimer, Executive Director. “For us, a community serving campus means being a resource, creating opportunities, and reducing barriers in order for all members of the community to thrive.”
