Celebrating 20 years with song

When the first Christel House opened in Mexico City In 1998, the dream was to help impoverished children break the cycle of poverty. Twenty years later, the dream is a reality. At the annual Founders Day ceremonies in Mexico, children marked the occasion with a debut performance of a folk song composed by three CHMX teachers and performed by 50 student musicians and singers for the anniversary event. Other activities included a series of colorful murals (pictured) for students, alumni, teachers and supporters to post hand-written notes of gratitude. The celebration also included a special ceremony, the planting of a Magnolia tree “to our beloved founder, who 20 years ago sowed the seed of love and equity in our hearts.”
