Creating a community at Christel House Academy

More than 60 families recently celebrated “Grandparents Day” at Christel House Academy West. Kids enjoyed lunch with their Grandparents and then invited them to the playground for recess. Marian Walsh, Interim Principal at Christel House Academy West says annual traditions like Grandparents Day are a favorite for students. “Our students enjoyed connecting their families to their school experience, and grandparents love the chance to meet their grandchildren’s friends and teachers.” Many of the Christel House families have grown with the school, now serving students from kindergarten to 6th Grade. Walsh credits teachers for helping create a close-knit community with strong parental involvement. “Teachers make an effort to find ways to communicate and interact with families – through home visits and going out of their way to attend events that support their students.”
