Adventure club takes class outside

They’re called the Wilderness Adventure Club – 4th and 5th graders from Christel House Academy South (CHAS) that meet after school to learn about nature. The group traveled to Brown County State Park, one of four visits the Club will take to state parks this year. According to Jaclyn Wehmeier, 2nd Grade Teacher at CHAS, these field trips give students a chance to build relationships with each other while applying their classroom learning with outdoor experiences. The Wilderness Adventure Club lives up to their name – the kids hiked 5 miles over two hilly trails, climbed the fire tower, discovered a salamander while exploring a running stream, and visited the Nature Center at the park.
