Dual credit courses for DORS student

Temesgen G. is a refugee from the tiny African country of Eritrea. Within a month of arriving in Indianapolis last year, the 20-year-old was enrolled at Christel House DORS to earn his high school diploma. A strong student, Temesgen is taking dual credit courses through DORS, in preparation for seeking his college degree. He plans a career in the bio-medical field as a health care engineer. “DORS has been the best experience, especially being allowed to take the dual credit classes,” says Temesgen. A member of the DORS Student Leadership Council, Temesgen is busy with DORS classes four days a week, works a part-time job and even takes a mathematics course at Ivy Tech (scoring an impressive 99 of 100). He’ll graduate in May with college to follow. “When I came here, everything changed,” he says.
